05.09.2026 – Interracial Marriage Data? Why the fuss…?

Good day, everybody. Dr. Nick here with a new blog for you on May 9th, 2026.  Today’s topic revolves around interracial marriages and relationships. For some reason, this topic has been on my mind lately, and I keep seeing little tidbits here and there in the news about people getting married. So, I decided to do a little research.

To begin, I discovered that interracial marriages have increased fivefold since 1967, with around one in five newlywed couples being either interracial or interethnic couples. Among the gender differences between different racial groups, I found that 36% of Asian women versus 21% of men are in interracial marriages; among Blacks, I found that 24% of men versus 12% of women are in interracial marriages. But let me ask you a question? Out of everybody, who marries outside of their race the most? The answer may be shocking, but if you think about it, not really.

The answer is White men. The data shows that white men are most likely to marry Hispanic women, followed by Asian women and Black women, and there is also a link between those white men who have higher education and entering into an interracial marriage. Let me break it down for you.

Among White men who marry outside of their race, the most common pairings are White men and Hispanic women (43%), White men marrying Asian women, which accounts for 14% of marriages, and White men marrying Black women, which accounts for 11% of new interracial marriages.

The research also shows that White men with at least some college experience are about 19% more likely to be in an interracial marriage, versus those with only a high school diploma or less, which is around 14%. What about the divorce rates of interracial couples?

The funny thing is, when you look at the data, the divorce rates of interracial marriages show little to no differences when compared to same-race couples, and depending on what studies you look at, they are even less likely to get a divorce. With that being the case, why is society so hung up on Black male and White female interracial couples?

In my opinion, if you look historically at the history of America, it pretty much explains why people are against Black men and White women couples, and those marriages are even less likely to get divorced in certain situations.

So, to close out this blog, please feel free to share your thoughts on interracial couples and marriages below. Thank you for reading. Have a great day, Dr. Nick.
