Good day, everybody. Dr. Nick here with a new blog for you on May 24th 2026. Today’s topic revolves around oral sex and more specifically, cunnilingus. So let me start with a question: Should you perform cunnilingus on your lady? The easiest answer I can give you is a simple yes. And now, I will tell you why.
Do all women like oral sex? Obviously, the answer is no, but for some women, it can be a major turn-on. Studies show that oral sex can increase the woman’s chances of having an orgasm, due to direct clitoral stimulation, support relationship quality, and potentially improve her overall health.
A study from 2018 on older adults found that 37% of couples performed oral sex within the previous year. For both men and women, receiving oral sex was linked to a higher chance of having an orgasm and more sexual enjoyment, which could lead to more intimacy and improved relationship quality. Actually, I’m surprised older adults aren’t having more oral sex, so in my opinion, 37% seems low.
Oral sex also helps to close the “orgasm gap.” According to a study in 2024, 82% of men versus 32% of women had orgasms during their most recent sexual encounter. This is a pretty clear example of the orgasm gap. Oral sex is one way to close this gap by providing direct stimulation to a woman’s clitoris and extending foreplay, which could be considered to be a buildup to the main event.
Believe it or not, oral sex can also increase intimacy. In a study from 2013 with 134 couples in long-term relationships, higher levels of intimacy were linked to stronger sexual desire in both men and women, and higher odds of partner sexual activity occurred.
My new lady said I should write a book on how to “give head.” She really has pretty nice orgasms, too! So, what I am going to do is connect this blog with my podcast and do a short series on how to perform cunnilingus. So, consider this episode Zero, with the following episodes talking about using your tongue with clitoral interaction, followed by an episode on oral sex and stimulating the G Spot.
Thanks for reading, and have a great day, Dr. Nick.
